Summary: | History has recorded that by the 18th century many heroes of the homeland had risen up against the British, but this war took place separately and within different states rather than fighting for independence simultaneously throughout the country. Homeland fighters such as Dato' Maharaja Lela, Ngah Ibrahim, Dato' Sagor, Penghulu Dol Said, Tok Bark, Dato' Bahaman, Roslie Dhoby and many more have risen up against the colonists as a result of the colonist administration that is too oppressive and acts cruelly against the indigenous population. This opposition includes direct opposition to the British administration and intervention and indirect opposition against the government that receives British protection. The uprising also emerged as a result of the local people's dissatisfaction with the land and crops tax system that was considered unfair and the way the quotation was carried out. |
