 Ketum is a traditional herbal medicine that has long been used in Malaysia and neighboring Thailand to treat various diseases. However, the abuse of ketum for recreational purposes is becoming more prevalent in Malaysia and becoming more serious. Since ketum also has the potential to be used as a medicine for modern medicine, then its benefits need to be considered accordingly in spite of the harms it brings. To date, work discussing this issue is still lacking not only in Malaysia, but also around the world.
