Description
Summary:The concept of Human Dignity has been discussed focussing on the Kantian and Islamic philosophy. The idea of personhood and sanctity of life has been elaborated considering Islamic and Kantian philosophical ideas. I tried to focus on the Bioethical issues of consent and autonomy with emphasis on Islamic principals. Reproductive techniques, organ donation, gene therapy, contraception, abortion, euthanasia and post-mortem and other issues have been discussed in light of Quran and Hadith. Pakistan Medical and Dental Council's codes of ethics have been analyzed and critically evaluated in the light of international and Islamic Bioethical laws. Pakistan has no bioethical regulations that can support the codes of ethics. Medical decision making has been evaluated with examples. There is a wide gap between theory and practice; medical codes of ethics are not been followed in clinical and research medicine in Pakistan
