This article examines the Islamic view of the art of taranum from the aspects of law and principles. It also discusses the development of tarannum art in the culture of society from the Jahiliyyah Arab period, Arab Muslim and especially the archipelago community. In addition, this book highlights seven types of maqamat in the art of reciting the Quran, namely: Bayati, Soba, Nahawand, Rast, Sikah, Hijaz and Jiharkah
