The art of Taranum Al-Quran is one of the branches of voice art that is heard by the reciter with the aim of coloring the demands of entertainment according to Sharia. The development of this art flourishes with the passage of time until it is recognized as one of the branches of knowledge known as Ilmu Taranum. This article examines the Islamic view of the art of taranum from the aspects of law and principles. It also discusses the development of tarannum art in the culture of society from the Jahiliyyah Arab period, Arab Muslim and especially the archipelago community. In addition, this book highlights seven types of maqamat in the art of reciting the Quran, namely: Bayati, Soba, Nahawand, Rast, Sikah, Hijaz and Jiharkah
