Description
Summary:The present volume provides accounts of investigations of synthetic and structural studies of many interesting natural products. It includes synthetic approaches to target molecules having adjacent carbon centres, synthesis of terpenes, bisabolones and gibberellins, applications of asymmetric Diels-Alder reactions, synthetic approaches to macrocycles, chemistry of tricarbonyl compounds and cycloisomerisations as well as sequential Michael additions in natural product synthesis. Synthetic approaches to indole alkaloids, norepinephrine derivatives, carcinogenic adducts of DNA and thymosin are also presented. The stereochemistry and mechanism of methylmuconate pathways are described. The structure and chemistry of terpenes from marine organisms, alkaloids, chalcogens, amphibious venoms, corticoid hormones, antibiotics, peptide siderophores, enzyme catalysis and biosynthesis. Accounts of how the 'detective' work of structure elucidation was conducted employing the latest spectroscopic.
