In between are anecdotes of his life and his political career, along with the insights he gained and wishes to share. The schoolboy from Batu Pahat became a doctor in his hometown, but he would rise to new heights in government after joining the MCA, first as state assemblyman for Bandar Penggaram and Johor exco member, all the way to Minister of Health-until a scandal prematurely ended his political career.Nevertheless, he overcame numerous obstacles before staging a spectacular comeback and was elected president of the MCA in 2010 and chair the Penang Port Commission. He eventually retired from politics in 2013 after Malaysia's 13th general election. This is a glimpse into the life of a long-serving politician and MCA stalwart, his thoughts on the current state of Malaysia and the hopes he has for the nation's future.
