Summary:Writing is a complex task which requires different skills in order to master it and efficacy beliefs help to determine how much effort learners willing to expend on writing activities and to what extent they persevere when confronting obstacles. This is because efficacy involves a generative capability in which cognitive, social, and behavioral skill are organized into integrated courses of action to serve innumerable purposes. Similarly, in writing, a learner needs to produce multiple drafts, edit and discuss them to produce a batter written piece. This requires hard work and perseverance to succeed. This book examines the roles of self-efficacy in learning and teaching of writing skills. The authors adopted a case study approach through an in depth observations at secondary school in Malaysia. The discussion in further elaborated by incorporating the elements of teacher's assistances in writing skills and correlated learners' writing skills and self-efficacy development. Overall, ESL Writing: A perspective on Self-efficacy, Learning and Teaching is designed to be teach-friendly and experience-based discussion, so that teaching and learning to write can be looked at from a more holistic future.
