This monograph consist of two parts.The first part,which is adapted from a paper presented to an economic seminar in 1984,examines the role and prospects of the local rubber-based industry in the manufacturing sector of the Malaysian economy.It discusses the major issues involved,the target set for local rubber consumption by the year 2000 and the development strategies seen appropiate for the industry.The second part contains statistical information on production,export and import of rubber products and on specific commercial aspects of the rubber-based industry.
