 Since the introduction of gloves as protective devices in the eighteenth century,the use of gloves has become an accepted standard aseptic practice,especially for both diagnostic and surgical procedures.Instead of the gloves made from cecum of sheep as in the early days,the ones widely used nowadays are those of natural rubber latex,which are known to provice excellent physical barriers against contaminating substances for the user.It is well acknowledged that protection by these latex gloves is particularly effective for minimising cross-infection during surgey.Today,billions of such gloves are being used every year throughout the world.
