Description
Summary:The first edition of this book, published in 1939 under the title of A Philosophy of Accounting, was the first attempt in Australian accounting literature to present the basic theory and technique of accounting as a consistent body of doctrines logically applied. It was written for a thesis competition conducted by the General Council of the Commonwealth Institute of Accountants (since merged with other associations to form the Australian Society of Accountants) and was awarded the prize in that competition by a unanimous vote of the Committee of Award. The judgment of the Committee of Award and their praise of its logical development, systematic arrangement, style and language have since been abundantly vindicated by the success of the publication which now appears in its Fourth Edition.
