Summary:The result of collaboration between a communications scholar and a seasoned politician, this book is an empirical study of affirmative action in Malaysia, with a focus on tertiary education, and more specifically, the role of Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) in empowering more bumiputras through providing opportunities for higher education. The author have common bond in that both were pioneers associated with UiTM, the first as pioneer student in the School of Mass Communicationand the second as a pioneer faculty member at this institution from its inception stages.Their association, which began at the School of Mass Communication in July 1972, was strengthened when the first author enrolled in and completed his doctoral dissertation at IIC University of Technology, Cambodia, under the supervision of the second author.
