 During the 56 years of the existence of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), various language activities, literature and publications have been documented in this book. The existence of DBP is based on the struggle to uphold the Malay language as the national language, official language and language of knowledge covering the fields of language, literature, social sciences, humanities, science and technology as well as law. In a more holostic sense, DBP plays an important role in the formation of a nation-state and in the administrative affairs of the state system. This book promotes the history of the formation of DBP and its struggle to strengthen the national language to date, the vision of its leaders and recognition from international institutions. The spirit of DBP born from an era will pass on its legacy to future generations to uphold the national language so that the national torch remains.
