The conclusions of this study and a description of the proposed World Science Information System are contained in the Study Report, of which this is a synopsis. The conduct of science requires countries to commit both intellectual and material resources. As governments have reviewed their national science policies, questions associated with the allocation of funds and equipment and with the development of scientific manpower have become familiar, if not resolved. The organization of the informational resources of science has been given less attention. The Unesco/ICSU joint project has as its central theme the international deployment of the informational resources of science. |
