 The highly dynamic and fast changing global economic landscape is generating continuous uncertainties which are having a significant impact on institution and organisations in both the private and public sectors. Building sustainable institutions is central to achieving a robust and enduring economy which is resilient and able to weather the more challenging future environment. The lecture makes the case that strong governance is fundamental and integral to building such sustainable corporations and organisations. The global experience has demonstrated the consequences and cost of governance failures. In the case of the larger corporations entities, such governance failures have witnessed large scale destruction in wealth, collapse in financial markets and the erosion in confidence that has resulted in cost that are detrimental to the economy of the country.
