Man's capacity todevelop/design instruments/implements/weapons helped man control animals. Thiscontributed to a large extent in evolution oflivestock over the past 12,000 years. As perhistorical evidence, goat and sheep were thefirst species of animals domesticated forhuman use. This was followed by domesti-cation of pig. About 8000 years ago cow wasthe last major food animal that humansdomesticated. This led to introduction of milkas a useful foodstuff. Goat, sheep, reindeer andcamel milk were also used. Other species usedfor food were avian, amphibian, fish, andvarious arthropods. |
