HANDBOOK OF COMMON PARASITOIDS AND PREDATORS ASSOCIATED WITH BAGWORMS AND NETTLE CATERPILLARS IN OIL PALM PLANTATION
This handbook serves as a guide to identify some of the common parasitoids and predators affecting bagworms and nettle caterpillars in Peninsular Malaysia. It has to be noted that the whole range of natural enemies for each particular pest species may not be covered here. Nevertheless, the parasitoi...

It has to be noted that the whole range of natural enemies for each particular pest species may not be covered here. Nevertheless, the parasitoids and predators listed in this handbook are the most commonly encountered, based from PORIM records. The host species and their corresponding parasitoids and predators are listed in Table 1. These relatively small insects play a significant role in regulating the pest populations in the field. It is hoped that this information will be useful to planters in identifying these predators and parasitoids in their plantations. Planters thereby, have to provide suitable environments to establish the population of these beneficial insects. Careful application and selective use of insecticides are also important so as not to cause any adverse effect on the population of the beneficial insects. |
