Description
Summary:The direct sowing of paddy is a popular method of fermentation in Malaysia. The continuous practice of this method has led to an increase in the problem of pests, diseases and weeds that can affect the production of paddy. This added that the use of similar varieties from season to season has caused outbreaks of diseases and insect pests to occur. Pest, disease and weed management is an important activity to ensure sustainable rice production. In order to reduce this problem, farmers need to diversify their methods of pest, disease and weed control as well as be wise in organising related cultural practices. This strategy is better known as 'Integrated Paddy Crop Management' which is recommended for farmers to practice. This pocketbook 'Pests, Diseases and Paddy Weeds' includes the introduction of pests, diseases and weeds of paddy crops. All the information in this book is simple, practical and easy to understand. This book is specially aimed at academicians, researchers, students, farm managers, development agents and farmers involved in rice cultivation. It is hoped that with the availability of this pocketbook as a guide, it will help to address the problems associated with pests, diseases and weeds in paddy crops thus contributing towards the sustainable increase in rice yield.
