Description
Summary:Rice is the third largest agricultural commodity in Peninsular Malaysia, covering around 209,300 ha, principally in eight granary areas. Weeds are a major constraint to rice production, necessitating effective weed management strategies. Surveys on rice weed communities in Peninsular Malaysia have identified common species such as Monochoria vaginalis, Ludwigia adscendens, Fimbristylis miliacea, Scirpus grossus, and Limnocharis flava. Different granary areas have different predominant weed species. The objective of the study was to assess the composition, distribution, and structure of rice weed communities in areas experiencing changes in rice cultivation practices. This information is crucial for formulating effective weed control strategies to maximize yields.
