 The study focused on understanding the perceptions and practices of tobacco farmers in Bachok, Kelantan, regarding pest control. Farmers prioritize insect pests over diseases, relying mainly on chemical spraying for control. Decision-making is influenced by farmer objectives, available options, and the tobacco marketing system, which involves curers. Farmers tend to be self-reliant and innovative due to the potentially attractive returns from tobacco growing. However, there's a lack of awareness about the health hazards of pesticides and safer spraying practices. Farmers typically follow fixed schedules for pest control due to a lack of economic threshold information and understanding of natural enemy action. Further research is needed to understand tobacco farmers' perceptions and to plan effective pest control strategies.
