Malaysian consumers are also becoming more aware about the nutritional values of the foods the eat. Hence, there is an urgent need to compile the nutrient composition of locally available foods. These data are useful especially to the nutritionists in planning of prescribed diets, calculating the nutrient intakes by individuals or group of people and planning of food supplies for population groups or for the country as a whole
