Description
Summary:Presently, large European-type combine harvesters are being widely used in the major rice-growing areas in Malaysia. However, there are rice areas in the country where the services of the big combine are still not available due to various reasons. Often, the main reason is that the soil is too soft to support the heavy combines. Other possible reasons are: - the lack of suitable access from the farm road to the field plots for the combine harvester; the rice-growing area might be too small or isolated and thus not attractive to the combine harvester service contractors; the size and shape of the field plots might not be conducive for economic operation of the large combine harvesters; and the crops in adjacent fields ripen at different times.
