The younger generation of educated Bidayuh often uses Sarawak Malay, English, Bidayuh and Bahasa Melayu in a number of domains. Code-switching is the most dominant pattern among the younger generation of educated Bidayuh during interactions. It is practical to accommodate because there is no common Bidayuh language. Therefore, there are a lot of borrowings from Bahasa Melayu, Sarawak Malay and English for practical convenience. /however, Bidayuh dialect is still a choice language preferred by the educated Bidayuh undergraduates to express their Bidayuh identity. |
