Al-Hikam is the plural word for "wisdom" meaning "words that contain useful knowledge" or "useful knowledge material" such as knowledge of Fiqh, knowledge of Tawhid and the science of Sufism. Al-Hikam contains the essence of Sufism is the knowledge that examines how to purify oneself from reprehensible attributes (the nature of mazmumah) and maintain worship and all deeds to avoid dangerous heart diseases such as arrogance, riyak and ujub. Tawhid, on the other hand, is closely related to the Islamic faith to introduce the servant to his creator at a closer (familiar) rate.
