The world was shaken by the disappearance of MAS flight MH370 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing missing early in the morning of March 8, 2014. The flight carrying 227 passengers from 15 countries including 2 babies and 12 crew became the focus of the world. The plane lost contact from the Subang air control center around 2.40am, which is only 2 hours after takeoff. The joint search and rescue effort covers an area of 30,000 km2 (12,000 miles) in the Gulf of Thailand. The flight departs from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8 at 00:41 local time (16:41 UTC, March 7) and is scheduled to land at Beijing Capital International Airport (06:30 local time, March 8). The massive search operation for MH370 involving more than 30 aircraft and 40 ships from various still gave no clues. Mass open sea searches are still ongoing.
