Description
Summary:A project was undertaken to address the limitations of two-wheeled tractors in soft padi fields, where existing innovations hadn't gained traction. A solution was developed involving a drum-type star-shaped float wheel to prevent bogging and preserve soil layers, coupled with wide trailing wheels for tillage depth control and operator comfort on harder soils. This combination ensured buoyancy in fluid mud conditions, maintaining productivity between 0.08 and 0.36 ha/h depending on soil softness. Though unable to perform rotary tilling near field bunds due to wheel width, the star wheels proved durable, and the rear trailing wheels assembly could be repurposed, facilitating increased tractor utilization.
