Summary: | This book discusses the perception of Chinese youth in higher education institutions towards the UMNO political movement. The eight main variables studied in assessing the level of perception of Chinese people are politics, economy, corruption, social, ethnicity, education, social contract, and Islam (perception). Perception vs. perception. The results of the 2008 and 2013 general elections (GE12 and GE13) really prove what the writer has studied all this time. It is not impossible that Barisan Nasional (BN) will lose in GE14 if the UMNO Political Movement still does not change for the better. Some Chinese people are very united in determining their actions, especially in determining who and what party will be elected or voted for. This is coupled with the attitude of kiasu (always wanting to win or fearing losing) that some of them hold. The kiasu attitudes studied are divided into three categories: ultra kiasu (UK), moderate kiasu (SK), and less kiasu (KS). At what level is this kiasu attitude that increasingly affects the Chinese? Does this level of kiasu benefit the future of the country and the development of Malaysian politics? |
