 The interpretation of asnaf ar-riqab as a recipient of zakat differs between each state in Malaysia. Selangor is a state that has expanded the definition of ar-riqab to a broader definition beyond the definition of slave. This book describes the history of the system of slavery that once existed in the rule of ancient kingdoms such as Egypt, Greece and Rome including the position of slaves in Islamic kingdoms. In addition, the opinions of past and present scholars as well as fatwas on the definition of ar-riqab are also included in this book. Readers can also find out the implementation of ar-riqab in the management of zakat by the Riqab Rehabilitation Division, Selangor Islamic Religious Council. It is hoped that this book can contribute to the development and management of zakat in Malaysia as well as be a reference in the distribution of zakat to asnaf ar-riqab.
