Description
Summary:Maqasid Shariah consists of five aspects of life: religion, life, mind, lineage and property. These aspects play an important role in order to achieve a better quality of life in this world and the hereafter. Protecting these five aspects of life is compulsory for Muslims to ensure a harmonious and prosperous life. There are three levels of Maqasid Shariah: dharuriyyat (the essential), hajiyyat (the complementary benefits) and tahsiniyyat (the embellishment). Dharuriyyat is an essential element for the survival and the spiritual well-being of human life. Hajiyyat is an aspect that brings comfort and convenience to life. Tahsiniyyat is an aspect of perfection or beauty in life. The Maqasid Shariah approach in measuring quality of life is superior to Maslow's theory approach because the Maqasid Shariah approach in concerned with the public interest, religious aspects and justice. However, both of these approaches touch on the satisfaction of individual needs.
