It analyzes the factors that caused the government to change the dual-citizenship policy to a single-citizenship policy before independence. The policy of not recognizing dual citizenship remains to this day. The Alliance Party adheres to the policy of one citizenship while the British colonial government practices a liberal dual citizenship policy. How did the two parties reach a compromise during the independence negotiations? The review of the work is focused on Malaysia, but it also discusses the citizenship issues of other countries that play a role in influencing the direction of the development of Malaysian citizenship. The author would like to highlight one main issue - in the context of Malaysia, the terms citizenship and nationality have different political implications (before 1965). The citizenship crisis faced by constitutional figures is closely related to the use of these terms. The discussion of this book is based on solid historical documents. This book is suitable as a reference for the study of history, politics, public administration and law in institutions of higher learning.
