Islam is a rational religion and rejects the culture of taqlid and the rigid attitude of man urges its followers to conduct research. Hearts and minds are endowed by God to seek the truth. Therefore, all information that is doubtful of the truth must be investigated and investigated first (al-Quran, al-Hujurat 49: 6). The culture of research whether in the field of social sciences or pure sciences has been the way of life of Islamic scholars in the era of Islamic excellence in the Middle Ages. But today the culture is supported by Western scientists and other developed countries such as Korea and Japan. Although much research has been done in Islamic Studies, most of it is still focused on traditional issues such as tafsir, hadith, fiqh and faith. The research methodology is more of a study of documents and interpretations in a scriptural or textual manner. The results of studies in the field are considered less scientific because the methodological approach and data analysis ignore the principles outlined in the knowledge of modern Research Methods. Accordingly, Islamic Studies research should combine qualitative and quantitative approaches as well as explore new areas that touch on the real issues of the ummah and are futuristic in nature. However, the epistemological aspect based on the Qur'an and hadith should not be set aside. Therefore, the research methodology developed from the Western scientific world should not be set aside just like that but instead screened and adapted to the requirements of Islam. In this regard, this book is an introduction to research methods that seek to bridge the world of traditional Islamic research to contemporary scientific research methodologies that guarantee that the results are valid and reliable.
