Sultan Abu Bakar introduced and added Western culture, especially English as an innovation to make the state of Johor a modern state. The reforms introduced include modern technologies such as administrative systems, transportation, security and defense, building design, how to dress, and how to uphold his sovereignty. The vision of Sultan Abu Bakar and the sultan after he created many reforms that preceded the government of other states and is now an icon of the state of Johor. Among them are the State Government Constitution 1895, Government Crown, Relative Degree, and Crown Degree, State Deputy Army, State Coat of Arms, and others. VOA is known as the Malay rulers who first visited England in the year 1866, and the first to be given international recognition. He successfully introduced Johor in the political and international trade arena. His Majesty is also known for his stand to defend the independence and sovereignty of the state of Johor from British occupation for 33 consecutive years. His Majesty used the strength of an efficient and efficient state management and administration system to combat the evil plans of the British. In addition, he gave opportunities to the Malays, Chinese, Malay descent of the Indonesian archipelago and Indians together to develop the country. The actions of Sultan Abu Bakar became the basis of understanding, cooperation, and tolerance between his people until now, in line with his call "Muafakat itu Berkat". The sultanate after Sultan Abu Bakar continued his vision by adding and improving the customs of the palace. Therefore, now the Sultanate of Johor is very concerned about the people, and the customary behavior does not make it difficult for the people as much as possible. The way to show respect for men and women is simple. The way of dressing honors the freedom of race and ethnicity. Prohibition colors are set aside so that there is no difference between the king and the people. Islamic elements and culture are maintained, such as reciting prayers asking for Allah's blessings and protection before and after the ceremony and swearing-in Islam. The author can give a detailed and concise picture of possible changes to enrich the customs because he is directly involved as Dato 'Penghulu Istiadat Istana Johor who handles the royal ceremonies.
