He lived at a time when Islamic knowledge flourished in various disciplines, surrounded by prominent scholars from various sects and sects. The existence of various conflicts of kalam thought also colored his time so that it became a place of clash of religious knowledge and discussion of local scholars. However, the rapid development of thought at that time did not mean that the social life of his people was not in turmoil. Ibn al-Qayyim was once imprisoned with his teacher Ibn Taymiyyah, as a result of a conflict of thought and a conspiracy to dominate the traditional sect that did not agree with him on some religious issues. As a Salaf figure, he was among those who wanted the purification of Islamic teachings based on the Qur'an and Sunnah as well as the teachings of the mutakallim such as the Jahmiyah and Muktazilah in solving the internal questions of the Islamic faith. Through his discussion of Kalam's dilemmatic questions about divinity, human questions, or the problems of the afterlife, Ibn al-Qayyim succeeded in emerging with new thoughts. At the end of the discussion, a model of Ibn al-Qayyim's faith that is intact and comprehensive and with Kalam's approach that is easier to understand and refer to is revealed.
