 The knowledge of Islamic legal maxims is very important, and is complementary to the knowledge on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (upul al-figh) and objectives of the Shari'ah (maqasid al-shari'ah). Although it is not considered a primary source, it is nevertheless very important. This is so since the extraction of rules requires the right methodology and principles given that the divine texts (nass) provide general guidelines whereas rulings are getting more numerous and more complex each day such that it necessitates a method of mining these rules. With this consciousness, we hope that this book will provide solutions to many problems, especially those contemporary issues that need urgent answers. Indeed, this book is not only suitable for professionals in Islamic finance but everyone in all spheres of knowledge as its application is comprehensive in nature.
