This book is a compilation of selected speeches and articles by YB Dato' Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, delivered and published since his appointment as Minister of Finance II in the Cabinet of YAB Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak in April, 2009. Ahmad Husni is a passionate guardian of the Federal Treasury, and we can glimpse the intensity of his sentiments in these speeches. Trained as an economist from that bastion of Malaysian economists, Universiti Malaya, and having worked in what were known as merchant banks in Kuala Lumpur, he, nevertheless, retains the ability to relate to the man on the street, explaining the Nation's financial and economic policies and initiatives to his audiences in an accessible form and language. Certainly, the speeches speak from the heart. His emphasis on the importance of what he calls the "moral economy" is indeed a powerful message as the world goes through one crisis after another.
