Approximately 85% of metastatic non-seminomas are cured, where 20 years ago the majority of patients with metastases died of their disease. Testicular cancer is thus viewed as the model of a curable malignancy and the principles of its treatment act as a guide to improve the management of other solid tumours. The second edition of this text has been revised and updated. The multidisciplinary approach to the management of testicular cancer is reflected in the contributors, who include surgeons, radiotherapists, medical oncologists and psychologists. The contents are supplemented in this second edition by the addition of new chapters on the molecular biology of germ cell tumours and the management of stage II non-seminoma. This work is aimed at anyone involved in the management of patients with testicular cancer
