 There has been a dramatic increase over the last five years in the number of people undergoing vascular surgery, ranging from major surgery on the large arteries to the treatment of varicose veins. This growth has been reflected in a glut of texts on vascular surgery, both from North America and Europe. However, these deal mainly with elective surgery and neglect emergencies whether they be caused by trauma or, more commonly, by post-operative complications.
