He received basic education from famous scholars in his district. When he was still young, he had shown ingenuity and an extraordinary ability to learn. This made him famous among teachers, friends and the public. When he was 16 years old, he defeated several prominent scholars who had invited him to a debate (at that time debate was a common practice among scholars). Then he continued to defeat various groups of other scholars several times in debates. After this event, he was nicknamed Badiuzzaman (Awe of the Ages)
