Advances in science, technology and engineering have greatly changed the landscape of human life. Malaysia, as an agriculture -based economy is now emerging as a developing country in the field of industry and innovation. The focus on advancing research and innovation as well as creativity has shown results that the country can be proud of. Government policies that improve the quality of life of the people by boosting the provision of research and development have various effects on the socio-economic condition of the society. However, the failure to educate the soul of each individual to balance progress in the context of economic, social and environmental preservation has become a concern that needs to be considered together. Research and development that is not judged in a balanced way can have a detrimental effect on the environment and the health and safety of the community. It is detrimental if each of us does not take into account the need to ensure that inter-generational equity and intra-generational equity are preserved in meeting the requirements of sustainable development. In engineering and technology education, the goals and objectives of science, technology and engineering-based education are not only focused on intellectual development alone but also the importance of developing values, culture, ethics as well as sensitivity towards environmental preservation and conservation. Factors of spiritual strength in carrying out the routine of life especially in occupations such as project management, research, policy implementation and development, up to the generation of R&D -based economy and commercialization are very important, but often overlooked.
