Based on the Malaysian university syllabus, this book consists of ten chapters covering the range of human resource functions including recruitment and selection, training of employees, managing the performance of individual employees, systems for compensating and rewarding workers, developing systems for improving productivity in the organization, occupational safety and health, industrial relations and the right of employers to terminate the services of employees. The text is arranged in a systematic manner with the inclusion of tables, illustrations and margin notes to further enhance the understanding of students. Each chapter ends with a summary, glossary, case study, references and recommended reading, and discussion, assignment and model exam questions. In the second edition, research findings, statistics and legislation pertaining to HR practices both in Malaysia and other countries have been updated to meet current needs. The addition of International Action sections found throughout the text illustrate international HR practices and cases on top of the local examples given in HR in Action sections of the previous edition. New discussion and model exam questions have been added to test the understanding of readers.
