Hikayat Inderaputera is a Malay masterpiece of the genre of lipur lara stories that was famous and widespread in the 17th to 19th centuries, as evidenced by the presence of this work in versions of Aceh, Java, Lombok, Bugis, Makassar, Cam and Mindanao. The senses, the main character of the saga, are assumed to be a Sufi adventurer seeking divine truth. In addition to romance and adventure, this work is an essay full of teaching tones and an epic that flatters a hero who overcame various obstacles before founding a dynasty of local kings.
