 THIS PUBLICATION has two main objectives: to remind us of Malaysia's diversity of cultures and beliefs via its national festivals, and to appreciate and enjoy the richness of the country's multiracial cultural festivities. Much has been said about the deeds of man history in as much as the myriad of shapes and sizes of man's misdeeds in shaping his survival and pursuits. But the core element that supersedes all these is the excellence of their cultures. Herein then are the essentials of the major festivals of Malaysia as represented through the festivals of its communities. The peg that fastens Malaysia to the ground of stability is truly via its diversity of cultures which entwines religion, beliefs, traditions, and the artistic pastimes of its people. We are in a way cauldron of values and practices, nurtured through tolerance, respect and understanding. It is not othing that the leaders of the country harangued all the way through the ages that cultural vital in any civilization needs no further overstatement. Through the pages of this eld be convinced that the festivals while not being wholly definitive, go a long way ting the requisite Malaysian Festivals portrays this phenomenon through words and pictures. It is hoped that it will continue to remind us in the future as it does now that the threshold of our national success starts with our ability and willingness to serve as a people.
