The book is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 discusses the Introduction to the Knowledge of Civilization in terms of the concept of civilization; the relationship of civilization to religion, culture, and race; basic characteristics of civilization; the objectives of the civilization course; theories of the birth, development, and collapse of civilization; interactions between various civilizations as well as similarities and differences between civilizations. Chapter 2 focuses on Islamic Civilization, namely in terms of the concept of civilization in Islam; source; the foundations and goals of Islamic Civilization; the view of the Islamic universe; and the characteristics of Islamic Civilization. Furthermore, Chapter 3 focuses on Asian Civilizations which include Malay, Chinese, and Indian Civilizations where the focus of the discussion is related to the birth, development, and achievements as well as the influence of Islam in those civilizations. Current issues of Civilization covering Western hegemony, globalization, Islam and human rights, Islam and environment, concept of jihad in Islam, dialogue of civilizations, Islam and dialogue of civilizations as well as dialogue approaches in 1Malaysia are discussed in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 is the closing chapter which discusses the spread of Islamic knowledge to the West and the hope of the rays of Islamic civilization
