Summary: | Reforms in the Islamic world whether the struggle to form a Civil Society or to establish Hadhari Islam should not run away from the foundation of Islamic reform brought by the Prophet s.a.w. and the teachings of the Qur'an. Hadhari's Islamic concept also emphasizes aspects of development that lead to the construction of civilization and efforts to improve the quality of life. Based on the agenda of Islamic reform since ages, this book tries to thoroughly examine the reforms that took place in Islamic history across historical aspects, the definition of tajdid and islah as well as the basic features of Islamic reform introduced by the Prophet s.a.w. In addition, the discussion also focused on the history and struggle of life, ideas and thoughts brought by three important figures of Islamic reform, namely Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, Muhammad 'Abduh and Hassan al-Banna. Although there are benefits from the reforms they once fought for, there is a polemic that invites friction between the followers of these reform figures and the mainstream. Therefore, the writer discusses the polemic by emphasizing heresy and the concept of holding against sects. It is hoped that this book can be used as a guide and guideline for Muslims, especially parents, teachers, lecturers, students and female students in institutions of higher learning as well as students at the secondary school level in Malaysia. |
