Description
Summary:Yield and quality are multi-facet traits, integrating various developmental and physiological processes. Efforts to improve the yield and quality of crop plants have continued since the beginning of human civilization. The escalating increase in world population and the expanding sophisticating of society values have warranted for greater emphasis on enhancing plant field and quality. With limited land and water resources, and an impinging climate change scenario, have demanded for more intense productivity and quality increase through crop exploitation and manipulation. Understanding these processes and integrating the basic and applied research that encompasses various factors that influence plant growth and development would be of tremendous advantage, especially in efforts to develop crop plants with improved resiliency for high quality yield.
