According to Cox, 'hegemony derives from the ways of doing and thinking of the dominant social strata of the dominant state or states in so far as these ways of doing and thinking have acquired the acquiescence of the dominant social strata of other states'. Cox further expalins that hegemony is maintained 'through the process that Gramsci described as passive revolution'. The essence of the whole matter which is rightly and succintly stated by Cox is: 'Hegemony frames thought and thereby circumscribes action". What Cox has said about the hegemony of thought and thereby the hegemony of action is so true in the case of the Western hegemony over the world, in general, and over the Muslim world, in particular in the name of the New World Order. Mawdudi expressed the same views when he said that when the Westerns nations invaded the Muslim world, Muslims suffered a defeat in the battlefield. But the acceptance of Western supremacy of knowledge, culture and philosophy was the worst thing that had happened. He said: 'What the West could not achieve by the force of amrs, its philosophies accomplished by means more subtle'. The author of this book argues as long as the Western hegemony continues, the West may continue to manufacture such political and intellectual elites to continue its economic and political economy in the name of the New World Order (NWO). It depends on the Muslim Ummah how it will work for its unit and will respond to this so-called NWO so that it may provide a non-hegemonic and a holistic world order to humanity where all civilizations will thrive and flourish with the policy of peaceful co-existences.
