 This book describes the history and thinking between the tajdid (reform) stream and the traditional stream in Malaysia. The first part of this book describes the historical background and thought of the religious tajdid movement in classical and modern times. Meanwhile, in the second part of this book, a comprehensive description of the tajdid or islah movement in Malaysia. The third part of this book describes specifically the development of the tajdid movement in Perlis, which has officially upheld the teachings of adherence to the Qur'an and sunnah and rejected the practice of bigotry to sects. At the end of this section of the book, an appendix is included on the reform figures in Perlis and the Saudi-Wahhabi government's relationship with Ottoman Turkey. Hopefully, with the result of this book, readers will be able to understand and evaluate the direction of the struggle as well as the points of difference between the tajdid stream and the traditional stream.
