Sport Psychol ogy: Concepts and Applications is written for students who are interested in learning about sport and exercise psychology as an academic discipline and in using that knowledge in applied settings. The book is designed primarily for undergraduate students, but instructors can readily adapt the book as a foundation text for graduate students by sup plementing the text with current articles from re search journals. The focus of the book is reflected both in the subtitle and in the "Concept and Application" boxes that appear throughout the chapters. The concepts presented are all supported by scientific research, and the danger of applying unsupported concepts is emphasized. Where research has led to inconsistent or contradictory conclusions, con cepts and applications have been derived based on the preponderance of evidence.
