 The decline and backwardness of Islamic civilization is a matter that is often talked about, not only by modern thinkers but also earlier scholars. The decline of the Muslims became more severe in the 18th century. This wave not only hit the Turkish nation but covered the entire Islamic World. Muslims worldwide have experienced a stagnation of thought and spirituality. This setback began with the historical sequence of the fall of Baghdad, at the hands of the Mongol army in 1258.
