Summary: | OSCE (Observed Structured Clinical examination) is increasingly used in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical examinations. The student has to circulate past a number of 'stations' within a specified time interval. At each station there will be variously a photograph, radiograph, specimen or patient. A number of questions then have to be answered. Especially because of the time pressure there is a special technique required for success. It is the aim of this book to give practice in OSCE examinations and to give the reader confidence in this new method of assessment. The book consists of four OSCE-style examinations. Each consists of approximately 25 'stations', most of which includes a colour photograph or radiograph. After each set full explanatory answers are given. There is a separate section on short cases along with brief notes on paediatric clinical examination appropriate in this context. In addition there is a chapter on OSCE technique and the best way to approach this type of assessment |
